Technology solutions provider JBT has acquired certain assets of advanced X-ray food inspection systems provider Novus X-Ray for an undisclosed sum.
Following the acquisition Novus X-ray technology will be integrated into JBT's Protein and Liquid Foods system portfolio.
A dedicated technical team will handle the Novus X-ray equipment and sales would be handled by JBT's global sales network.
X-ray inspection systems are claimed to provide better food inspection as compared to the traditional metal detectors.
These X-rays are equipped with technology to identify an array of metallic and non-metallic food contaminants.
The Novus X-ray inspection systems are also equipped to detect stainless steel, which is common food processing equipment and also a more difficult metal to be detected by the conventional metal detector, the company claims.
The company claims that Novus X-ray system has dual advantage of being easy to use and having low maintenance cost.
JBT FoodTech president and executive vice president Steve Smith said: "Our customers want a contamination detection system that helps ensure food safety. In conversations with industry-leading food companies, Novus' technology stood out as having an attractive combination of detection capability, ease of software use and reliability."
Novus X-Ray claims to offers food inspection equipments that help detect foreign body contamination.
The company is launching next generation of automated food inspection equipment which is specially designed to face the challenges of critical control point (CCP) installation.
The equipment features one-button adjustment and plug-n-play modular architecture, which is intended to provide customers with total control of their equipment.
